2020 Year in Review
We had no idea when we started our farm business this year that we would experience a pandemic too.
Here’s hoping the rest of our years aren’t quite as “exciting.”
Here are our Top 20 Highlights of 2020:
~our spring calving group experienced what may have been the wettest winter ever
~we got our retail meat permit on the weekend COVID shut down our area & sold out of beef within a few hours
~I managed to get thrown off of our Ranger & broke a rib (but I didn’t break the egg I was holding!)
~we raised a BUNCH of chicks (both broilers & layers)
~we restocked our beef twice more & met a lot of wonderful customers
~Micaiah got his birthday chicks he’d been waiting on for months
~Wesley built a mobile chicken coop, a meat chicken shelter, an epic swing set, another (even more amazing) mobile chicken coop, & several other things
~We worked with Nana & Papa & were thankful they’re so close
~baled a lot of hay with Papa & Daddy
~got completely crazy & bought sheep
~were incredibly grateful that if we are quarantined, that we are quarantined on the most beautiful place with each other
~snuck in some horse loving
~learned how to raise & process our meat chickens
~had (& lost) our first lamb
~raised & sold a LOT of eggs!
~took our first family trip to the beach
~took the kids to their first cattle sale
~enjoyed countless amazing sunrises & sunsets while working on this land we love
~got the cutest new Livestock Guardian puppy, Jingle!
I’ll be honest, this was probably one of our hardest years. I wish I could really articulate the things we have learned & done this year, but hopefully these photos will help me to remember & share it with our grandkids one day. (Although I must say narrowing this down to only 20 might have been one of the hardest things of the year!)
We are grateful for God’s blessings & for each of you who are such encouragers to us! Here’s to a great 2021!
